Building a brighter future for Biogas
The transition to a low-carbon economy presents both challenges and opportunities for the UK’s biogas and carbon capture sectors. While anaerobic digestion has become an established technology for producing renewable energy and biomethane, there remains significant untapped potential to capture greater value from biogenic carbon dioxide (CO₂), improve plant efficiency and create new commercial opportunities.
Recognising this opportunity, Blended Products established the Biogas & Carbon Capture Working Group to bring together experts from across the industry. The group’s purpose is simple: to encourage collaboration, share knowledge and help shape the future of biogenic CO₂ and carbon capture in the UK.
Unlike traditional trade associations, the Working Group provides an open forum where operators, technology providers, consultants, researchers and commercial organisations can exchange ideas, discuss challenges and identify practical solutions that benefit the wider industry.
Why was the Working Group formed?
The Working Group was created after recognising that many of the industry’s biggest challenges were being discussed in isolation.
Whilst several organisations provide excellent advocacy, there remained an opportunity to create a collaborative forum that focuses on:
- Sharing technical knowledge
- Identifying commercial opportunities
- Exploring carbon capture technologies
- Raising awareness of biogenic CO₂
- Encouraging innovation
- Building partnerships across the supply chain
- Supporting the growth of the UK carbon capture market
By bringing together experts from multiple disciplines, the group aims to accelerate knowledge sharing and help businesses prepare for a rapidly changing market.
